Centennial Community Association (CCA) is one of 94 City-recognized neighborhood associations within the City of Portland; each neighborhood association is connected to a geographic boundary. Neighborhood associations are one way that neighbors can organize to address important issues within their neighborhood and create a sense of community and belonging. Centennial Community Resilience Network (CCRN)

The Centennial Community Resilience Network (CCRN) is a partnership among many of our community-serving organizations. The network is dedicated to establishing a resilience hub in the Centennial Neighborhood and promoting resilience initiatives and projects throughout the neighborhood. We achieve this by collaborating and providing mutual assistance among organizations in the Centennial neighborhood to enhance resilience for community members.

bike works by p:ear

In addition to providing sliding scale high quality bike repair and low barrier bike access, bike works by p:ear builds pathways for youth, ages 15-25, to end their homelessness and begin the journey out of poverty by providing meaningful job training opportunities and continuing bike mechanic education.

Black Economic Collective

The Black Economic Collective (BEC) is a grassroots, community-based organization with a mission of community development through financial education, resource allocation, and a collaborative effort. BEC strives to develop a blueprint for economic development through the utilization of knowledge and wisdom to build wealth within  Black communities throughout the United States.

Centennial Neighborhood Emergency Team (CNET)

Neighborhood Emergency Teams (NETs) are Portland residents trained by the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management (PBEM) and Portland Fire & Rescue to provide emergency disaster assistance within their own neighborhoods. Read more about the Portland NET program HERE.

Centennial School District (CSD28J)

Centennial School District bridges the cities of Portland and Gresham, Oregon, by serving approximately 5,800 students grades K-12 at 11 school sites. Its mission is Collaborating in Community. Cultivating Equity. Inspiring Excellence; its vision is to build authentic relationships with its diverse community that equitably engage and honor all voices.

Day One Tech STE(A)M (DOT) is a culturally responsive youth and families organization that works with and for the community to create and find spaces of empowerment through modern technology by understanding our roots to our ancestor’s classical knowledge in STEM.

Division Midway Alliance (DMA)

Division Midway Alliance (DMA) is part of the Prosper Portland Neighborhood Prosperity Initiative (NPI) program. One of its main goals is to help businesses within the DMA district area. DMA supports businesses through a Storefront Grant Program and helps them connect to resources and information through a Community Business Support Program. Note: Although most of Centennial is not within the DMA district area, the organization is able to help along the Division Street Corridor up to the City’s eastern border.

East Portland Action Plan (EPAP)

The East Portland Action Plan (EPAP) is charged with providing leadership and guidance to public agencies on how to strategically address community-identified issues and allocate resources to improve livability for neighborhoods in East Portland. 

East Portland Chamber of Commerce (EPCC)

The mission of the East Portland Chamber of Commerce is to provide a voice for business on the Eastside. The Chamber strives to work actively with existing business associations on the Eastside and with other private and public organizations that support business growth and development. Major areas of focus for the East Portland Chamber include educational forums for small businesses, regular networking events, timely information on tax, regulatory and governmental issues impacting business, support for grand openings and business expansions, leadership development, and participation in special events.

Friends Share Community Space

Friends Share Community Space is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections and friendships through food, music, coffee, wine, art, and workshops. As a volunteer-run not-for-profit organization, we provide a welcoming and inclusive “third place” and consider ourselves a neighborhood living room. Growing Gardens

Growing Gardens cultivates community through sustainable urban agriculture. They aim to enrich the lives of individuals and communities by providing access to healthy food, promoting environmental stewardship, and fostering a deeper connection with nature. They offer home garden programs, garden education youth programs, and gardening education for incarcerated individuals across Oregon, including in Portland and Gresham.

Guerreras Latinas

The Guerreras Latinas program began in 2015 at the Rosewood Initiative and became an independent nonprofit organization in 2020. Founded and led by community leader, activist, and advocate Yoana Molina Marcial, Guerreras Latinas has grown to a group of over 800 women who learn from and support each other. Guerreras Latinas offers these women a safe space to connect, access resources, services and opportunities to empower themselves through information, thus strengthening their leadership in order to advocate for the well-being of their families and communities.

Midway Business Association (MBA)

Midway Business Association (MBA)’s larger Midway is bounded by I-205, Gresham, Market and Foster; it covers 12 square miles of neighborhoods and includes more than 500 businesses. MBA is a collection of business owners who volunteer their time to strengthen the identity and economy of the Midway district. MBA supports district businesses and members through monthly business-oriented talks, networking events and marketing through a website, newsletter and coupon book.

New Avenues for Youth

New Avenues for Youth is a Multnomah County-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention and intervention of youth homelessness. Our services for young people (ages 9-25) focus on the individual—their experiences, identities, needs, and goals—and helping them make positive change in their lives. Providing access to housing, employment, education, mentorship, behavioral health services as well as basic needs and other wraparound services.

Open School East Youth

Open School East is a high school program that helps students in grades 9-12 get on-track to graduation and transition into post-secondary pathways. They partner with six school districts in East Multnomah County (Centennial, David Douglas, Gresham Barlow, Parkrose, Reynolds, and Portland Public) to find students who need something different than a traditional school environment. They surround those students with inclusive classrooms, relationship-based advocacy and academics tailored to them.

Rockwood Common Tool Library Center

Rockwood Common provides equitable access to tools and skills, empowering neighbors to build a connected, resilient community. Rockwood Common Tool Library loans tools for free on Saturdays from 10am-1pm at the Rockwood Center, 17805 SE Stark.

Rooted In Nature Health Care

Rooted In Nature Health Care offers un-invasive non-medical holistic care, including midwives, doulas, herbalists, a massage therapist, and advocacy and community outreach services, primarily to Black residents in the Rockwood neighborhood.

ROSE Community Development

ROSE offers neighborhood-based solutions to deeply entrenched social problems by building housing and community. They develop and build affordable housing, and offer community programs to their residents in the Lents and Brentwood-Darlington neighborhoods, including emergency preparedness resources.

Rosewood Initiative

As a community anchor, The Rosewood Initiative fosters community building and is a resource hub for East Portlanders most impacted by systemic exclusion. Rosewood strives to improve access to support systems that foster economic stability and upward mobility, health and wellness, and community resilience across East Portland neighborhoods.

The Rockwood Center

The Rockwood Center strives to make a positive impact in the Rockwood area by partnering with our community, providing opportunities to create art, express music, and foster learning environments, while engaging with the ever-changing needs of our neighbors. Our tenet partners include Snowcap, Head Start, Doulas Latinas, and Play Grow Learn.

Thrive East PDX

Thrive East PDX is a community coalition whose mission is to facilitate and support community resilience programs that benefit all residents of the thirteen neighborhoods of East Portland. Thrive East PDX is working to foster diverse communities that provide opportunities for residents to THRIVE and not just survive. Thrive East PDX defines community resilience as “the ability to withstand and recover from disruptions. A resilient community has social and environmental systems that are less vulnerable to disruption and more able to recover and adapt when disruption does occur.”

Youth Organized and United to Help (Y.O.U.TH)

Y.O.U.TH believes that our young people need a future rooted in community, cultural celebration and possibility. Y.O.U.TH not only celebrates Black and Brown Excellence, but also helps youth carve a different path – a path, free from violence and the juvenile justice systems, to a future where our youth can not only dream, but see the path forward to making their dreams reality. Y.O.U.TH celebrates community and recognizes the importance of holding space; the Center is available for rent, and invites community in to host a training, workshop, family gathering!
