According to…well, me…Centennial doesn’t have any coffee shops. We have some drive-thrus and in-store kiosks, but virtually no “third places” where community members can sit, stay, and socialize with each other.
“By interacting with a wider range of people, or even just allowing us to be around others, third places can help us develop a sense of belonging,” she adds. “This is especially important in today’s fast-paced world, where loneliness and social isolation are on the rise.”

But the lack of coffee shops is going to change!
A small group of Centennial residents is planning to create a coffee shop. The crew has put on two pop-up coffee events (including one at the Thrive East PDX Fix-It Fair), and is working on business planning and partnership development.
Do you want to help out? Great! We could use everything from language and culture accessibility to business model research to pop-up partnerships to $$. Contact Karen Wolfgang at karen.wolfgang @ gmail.com to pitch in.
